Irish Water Spaniel

With its love of water, water-shedding coat of crisp ringlets, and use on waterfowl, the Irish Water Spaniel is actually classified as a retriever for the purposes of AKC field trials and hunting tests. IWS are known as the Rat-Tail or Whip-Tail Spaniels, and the clown of the spaniel family. At 21 to 24 inches tall the IWS is the tallest of spaniels. They weigh about 45-65 lbs., its curly coat is always solid liver. (Sorry no picture scanned for this page yet).
