Welsh Springer Spaniel
The Welsh Springer Spaniel is perhaps the oldest "pure" breed in the spaniel family. Old writings and prints suggest that medium-sized red and white spaniels most closely resembling today's Welsh Springer were used in Wales several hundred years ago. The Welshie is a hard-working hunter useful for any kind of game. The Welsh Springer Spaniel is slightly smaller than the English Springer (about 17-19 inches in height), and has a distinctive red and white coat. <-- Welsh Springer Spaniel "Tyler" enjoying a day afield |

Spaniels are often "perma-pups" that are playful not only when young but into adulthood. Welsh Springer Spaniel puppies "Katy" and "Tyler" have fun exploring in the garden. |

A Welsh Springer's red and white color is a breed characteristic. It is distinctly different from the liver and white of an English Springer. |
